Eco print with Nawal Gebreel 8 July 2023

The Artist

Nawal Gebreel uses innovative 3D fabric manipulations to produce her label’s luxurious scarves and wraps. She sells her work internationally as well as at home.

Nawal trained as a textile designer at Manchester Metropolitan University and soon set up her own label. She has 22 years teaching experience, mainly in the tertiary education colleges near her home in Liverpool. She runs workshops for groups throughout the world. She teaches textiles as well as watercolour and mixed media painting and printing

The Workshop

Contact printing using plant materials is often called eco-printing. You will use this method to make frameable prints from plants. You will learn to identify different plants, with guidance. you will use tools and equipment to experiment with different processing methods to grasp the basics of eco-printing on paper.

You can also opt to make a simple notebook using the decorative paper that you printed.
You will also be shown how to take your prints further by adding some drawing and painting.
You should leave confident to experiment further with these techniques after the course.
