About the workshop:
This one-day workshop is inspired by Linda’s 100 Day Project, in which she explored texture and sense of place through her surroundings, using instant photography and layered textile processes.
During the day, participants will begin with a guided walk around the Welbeck Estate, capturing photographs of architectural details, weathered surfaces, and natural forms. These images will form the foundation for studio-based experimentation using Gelli printing, Bondaweb, Tyvek, and hand stitching to build texture and structure.
The afternoon focuses on collage and composition, combining fragments, layers, and stitched elements to create expressive works inspired by the textures and atmosphere of Welbeck. Throughout the session, Linda will offer individual guidance, sharing how her own creative explorations evolved into a cohesive body of work.
By the end of the workshop, participants will take home one or more finished collages that reflect their personal interpretation of place and process.
About the artist:
Linda Harvey is an artist and teacher with over 28 years’ experience. Her creative practice begins with instant photography and is inspired by exploration and the beauty of discarded, weathered objects. She often incorporates recycled materials into her work, embracing abstraction and imperfection.
Linda’s approach is fluid and experimental, combining dyeing, printing, and stitching to create layered, tactile textiles. Her work celebrates time, transformation, and the art of finding beauty in the overlooked.
